About Agapé

Agapé is a Greek word that defines the love that God has for us. It arises from a keen sense of the value and worth of the one loved. Our goal is to integrate the love of Christ in each opportunity we are given to impact the world within you and around you.

With this in mind, founded in June, 1998 by Ann Noonan, Agapé Christian Counseling was then established on the beliefs of wholeness and healing through both psychological and theological perspectives. Ann’s passion for ministry led her to volunteer for mission trips to third world countries, provide counseling for missionaries, and lead trauma groups within the local detention center. Her desire to support the churches in the community led to multiple partnerships throughout the area.

In 2015, Ann stepped down as Executive Director and passed the baton, with an incredible foundation that continues to provide hope throughout our community today.  In 2019, Ann passed away, leaving a legacy that embodies her love for God, the church, and our community.  We are forever grateful for her obedience to God’s calling and take pride in carrying on her vision to see the greater Charlotte area become emotionally healthy and spiritually transformed by the power of God through the ministry of Agape.

We now have the ability to provide a safe space and supportive environment with counseling services to families, couples, teens, adults, and organizations. Our association with local churches, and businesses provides us the privilege of unity in touching the lives of seeking people. While committed to a Biblical approach, we welcome all people who seek counseling, regardless of religious background.
