To schedule an appointment with a therapist, please call our intake coordinator at 704-849-0144, 9am to 5pm Monday through Thursday or 9am to 2pm on Fridays. If you need to call after hours, you will be forwarded to our voicemail. You may leave your name and telephone number and someone will return your call as soon as possible. You may also contact us via the web!
Therapist availability varies, but we will do our best to accommodate your schedule. Many of our therapists have evening or weekend hours and some are available to see clients at more than one location.
If you have been referred to a specific therapist (perhaps upon the recommendation of someone you trust), we will gladly schedule an appointment for you with that person. If you don’t have a specific therapist in mind, then you may wish to look over the bios on our staff page as choosing a therapist is a very personal decision. These brief bios describe our therapists’ education, training, specialty areas and experience.
If you are unsure, you are welcome to call our office and briefly describe your situation so that our intake coordinator may assist you in making a decision. Our coordinators know our therapists’ qualifications and we desire to assist you in finding the right fit.
A typical session lasts for 50 minutes, although your first session may last a little longer. There also may be situations where you and your therapist may decide to schedule longer sessions.
We are glad that you have chosen Agapé Christian Counseling to assist you. Regardless of the reason you came to us, we look forward to your visit. To make your first visit as smooth as possible, please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment time with your therapist to complete all the necessary paperwork (We hate paperwork, too, but it is necessary). We want you to know that we value your privacy and want to see you receive the professional help that you need.
Once you have made your first appointment, we can e-mail you the necessary forms to complete. You will then bring those completed forms with you to give to your counselor. Or, if you’d like, you can download the forms from our forms page and bring them in.
Agapé’s fees for services vary depending on the therapist’s level of education and type of professional licensure. Fees are charged for individual (including children), marital, family and group counseling.
Payments are expected at each visit and you may pay by check, cash, debit, or credit card. We do not accept post-dated checks. We also accept Health Savings Account debit cards as well. We are not a Medicare or Medicaid provider, however.
Some insurance companies have approved Agapé as a provider of counseling services. For those that have not, we will be considered “out of network”. In either event, we will provide you with forms to submit a claim. Your ultimate out-of-pocket expense will depend on your plan’s reimbursement benefit, your deductible and level of co-pay.
From time to time, you may find yourself with limited financial resources. In some cases, your church may be able to pay some or all of the fee for counseling. In some cases, your employer or another third-party may be able to assist you.
If you have exhausted those resources, and you are not covered by insurance, Agapé may be able to help, thanks to the generosity of individual donors to our scholarship funds. Please understand that these scholarship resources are limited and may apply for a limited duration of time.
